This is where things get complicated.
My maternal grandmother, Lora May Baker, never knew who her biological father was. We have tried to research this, and I plan to create an entire page for that saga in the future. She was given the last name of her stepdad, who married my great grandma (Mary Mildred Hendrix) soon after Lora was born. There's a great deal of mystery surrounding Mary Mildred's origins, which is what got me started researching the Hendrix family.
